‘Class of ’97’ Hovlan-Morika tied for 16th at 16-under

Top 20 players Victor Hovland (NOR) and Colin Morikawa (USA), both born in 1997, are tied atop the leaderboard.

Hovland and Morikawa, who were tied for the lead the day before, each shot a 6-under 64 in the final Tour Championship of the FedExCup Playoffs on the U.S. Professional Golf (PGA) Tour at Eastlake GC (Par 70) in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) on Saturday. Tied for the lead at 16-under, Hovlan and Morikawa were forced to play together in the third round.

They started out very differently, but two days later, on Day 26, they are shoulder to shoulder.

With bonus strokes awarded based on the FedEx Ranking, Hovlan was 8-under and Morikawa 1-under heading into the first round, but Morikawa fired a stunning 9-under to share the lead with Hovlan, who was 2-under, and the two continued to battle it out in the second round, cutting six strokes off each other.

Hovlan, who won the BMW Championship in the second round of last week’s playoff, had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine before reeling off five strokes in six holes on the back, including four straight birdies on Nos. 12-15. Morikawa is the only player in the 30-player field to post back-to-back rounds of no bogeys with three birdies on the front and three on the back. 카지노사이트

World No. 1 Schaeffler, who began the tournament at 10-under, rebounded from a poor first round (1-over-par 71) to shave five strokes off his score and move into third place at 14-under. Schauffler will play a third round with veteran Keegan Bradley, who is at 13-under.

Former World No. 1 John Rahm also shaved five strokes to move into a tie for fifth with Xander Schauffele at 12-under, while Rory McIlroy dropped three strokes to move into a tie for seventh at 10-under.

The Koreans took a step back from the title race after failing to cut any strokes in the second round.

Kim Joo-hyung shot an even-par round and is tied for 18th at 5-under. A triple bogey on the par-4 fourth hole was the highlight as his second shot went over the green. Lim Sung-jae made five birdies but also had six bogeys to drop one stroke to finish at even par and tied for 26th with Kim Siu.
