‘£1.64bn invested→12th→14th’ fails to land, Pochettino’s platitudes “less difficult than at Tottenham”

Mauricio Pochettino has taken the helm, but Chelsea still can’t find a way out.

Owner Todd Boeli has spent a whopping £1 billion on players since taking over the club, but after finishing 12th last season, Chelsea is on track to finish outside the top 10 in 2023-2024.

Chelsea has just five points from six English Premier League (EPL) matches. They have one win, two draws, and three losses and are in 14th place. The goal drought is even worse. They haven’t scored a single goal in their last three games. In six EPL games, they’ve scored just five.

Pochettino is already treading on thin ice with speculation of his departure. Chelsea will face Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup (League Cup) at Stamford Bridge in London, England, on Nov. 28 at 3:45 a.m. ET.

Pochettino held a press conference before the Brighton game on Sept. 26. Pochettino has been making waves for his ‘surprise comments’. Pochettino has been making headlines for his ‘surprise comments’, saying that despite the difficult start, he believes it is less difficult than at Tottenham and Southampton.

Pochettino said: “It’s less difficult than when I was at Southampton and Tottenham. The only thing we are missing is goals. I think we are doing much better compared to my first few months at Southampton and Tottenham. It’s never harder than in the past.”

Pochettino, an Argentine, began his managerial career at Espanyol in Spain. He was introduced to the EPL in January 2013 when he was named Southampton manager.

After showing promise at Southampton, he took charge of Tottenham in May 2014. He stayed with the club for five and a half years until November 2019. His best results with Tottenham were a European Champions League runner-up finish in 2018-2019 and a League Cup runner-up finish in 2014-2015.

Nine years ago, however, was a different story. In Pochettino’s first season in charge, Tottenham started well, winning four games in all competitions, including the EPL, before losing 0-3 to Liverpool.

“I was at the center of change at Tottenham,” Pochettino said. We worked for six months to a year to build a squad with a new strategy,” Pochettino said. “At Chelsea, on the other hand, we already have a plan. We just need to develop it. That’s the difference with Tottenham.” 토토사이트

He added: “The balance is very good. But it’s not being realized because we have a lot of injuries. I think we have to be patient and focus on getting everyone back.”
