DB Park In-woong ahead of second professional season with ‘commander and captain’

Park In-woong donned the DB jersey with the 3rd pick of the 1st round in last year’s KBL Rookie Draft. He played as an ace in both offense and defense at Chung-Ang University. He was recognized for his accurate outside shooting and gritty play that didn’t spare his body.

From his debut season, Park In-woong was given many opportunities. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 33 regular-season games, playing 16 minutes and 13 seconds per game. It wasn’t a stellar performance, but he was consistently on the court as a sixth man and energized the team as a rookie.

Injuries slowed him down, however. On January 28, he fractured his foot in a game against the Seoul Samsung. Although there was no physical collision, he complained of pain after the game and was diagnosed with a fracture upon further examination. It was an unfortunate end to his rookie season as he was gaining experience.

Park worked harder than anyone else in the offseason to recover from his injury, and his play improved in practice. Both new head coach Kim Joo-sung and captain Kang Sang-jae named Park as their most anticipated player for the new season in an interview before the tournament 메이저사이트.

“I’m really looking forward to Park In-woong. He’s been doing well in practice. I think he’ll show even more growth in the season.”

Kang Sang-jae said, “I was injured last season and ended the season unfortunately, but I trained harder than anyone in the offseason. Not only me, but all of my teammates are cheering for me to win the development award. I’m really looking forward to getting better.”

Park shined in the Cup’s Group A qualifier against Suwon KT, where he was an all-around presence with 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 38 minutes and 13 seconds. A whopping four of his six rebounds were offensive rebounds. He was also a force on offense, taking five shots from three-point range and hitting three of them. Although DB lost 106-108 in overtime, Park did his part.

Park In-woong performed well in the cup tournament. Will he be able to showcase his growth in the upcoming season as expected by coach Kim Joo-sung and captain Kang Sang-jae, and why should we keep an eye on his play?
