Vero Valle Monza of the Italian men’s volleyball top flight has officially announced the signing of South Korean volleyball prospect Lee Woo-jin (19-195 cm).
“We have agreed to a year-long internship with Lee Woo-jin,” Monza announced on July 7 (local time). “Born in 2005, Lee is a South Korean outside hitter from Kyungbuk Cheego, who boasts a solid 195cm frame and was named the best outside hitter at the U19 World Championships,” Monza said.
Lee competed at the FIVB U-19 World Men’s Volleyball Championship in Argentina in August. The Korean team defeated the United States in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23) in the third-place match, becoming the first team in 30 years to qualify for the tournament. Lee was also recognized as the best outside hitter in the tournament. 캡틴토토 주소
After weighing the options of going pro or going to college, Lee chose to go overseas. “He was a player that the top teams in Korea wanted,” Monza said.
“He chose not to enter the Korean draft and accepted Monza’s option to take his career to the next level,” Monza said. “He will arrive in Italy next week and start training with the team led by Massimo Eccelli.” I am ready to pull on the Monza jersey and experience a new adventure in Italy.”
“All the top teams in South Korea could have had Lee Woo-jin, but we will evaluate his decision very carefully, choosing the experience in Italy,” said Claudio Bonati, the club’s sporting director. “We strongly wanted him because we believe he is one of the best talents in the world,” he added.
